Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Nitai Roy Chowdhury has warned that negligence, corruption or negligence in the discharge of duties by government officials will not be tolerated in any way. He said that if allegations of irregularities or corruption in a government office are proven, the concerned official will have to resign. On February 27, he participated in a civic reception program in Mohammadpur and delivered a speech as the chief guest at an introduction and exchange of views with government officials at the Upazila Mini Hall Room.
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at an introduction and exchange of views with government officials at the Shalikha Upazila Hall Room in Magura on February 28.
The Minister of Culture said, “The government wants to build a corruption-free administration, a transparent judiciary and a developed education system. Sustainable development is not possible unless corruption and irregularities are removed from the society.” Therefore, he urged government officials to perform their duties with honesty and dedication.
He said, “The expectation of the people of the country is to establish a democratic and corruption-free society. Therefore, everyone in government offices will work independently. The main spirit of independence was to establish democracy and ensure the people’s right to vote.”
Stating that initiatives have been taken to plan the construction of Shilpakala Academies in each upazila, the Minister said, “Shilpakala Academies will be built to increase the opportunities for cultural figures and artists to practice various cultural activities including music.”
Officials from various departments of the upazila administration were present at the meeting held under the chairmanship of Shalikha Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Boni Amin.
Later, the Minister visited the excavation site in Dighalkandi village of the upazila under the canal excavation project being implemented as per the election promise of the BNP government.
