A tragic incident occurred in Jajira of Shariatpur, where a fourth-grade student drowned while bathing in a river with his grandmother. The accident took place on Saturday (March 14) at noon in the Kirtinasha River in the Bhanu Munshi Kandi area of Jajira Union.
The deceased child has been identified as Siam (10). He was the son of expatriate Mahbub Madbar from Bhanu Munshi Kandi area of Jajira Upazila and a fourth-grade student of Bhanu Munshi Government Primary School.
According to local sources, Siam went to bathe in the Kirtinasha River with his grandmother on Saturday noon. While bathing, he accidentally slipped into the deep water of the river and drowned. Realizing the situation, his grandmother and nearby people started shouting for help.
Local residents later rushed into the river and, after searching for a long time, managed to recover Siam and bring him to the riverbank. However, his condition had already become critical. He was quickly taken for local medical treatment, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
