Bettiah West Champaran. Today on 20 March 2025, A Grand programme was organized on World Sparrow Day in the Auditorium of Satyagraha Research Foundation, Satyagraha Bhawan. In which representatives of various social organizations, intellectuals and Students participated. On this occasion, International Peace Ambassador cum Secretary General Satyagraha Research Foundation Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Advocate, Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Senior Journalist Cum Founder Mother Tahira Charitable Trust Dr. Amanul Haque Dr. Shahnawaz Ali, Dr. Amit Kumar Lohia and West Champaran Kala Manch Coordinator Shaheen Parveen jointly said that today we have got the opportunity to Celebrate the 15th World Sparrow Day. This is being done so that the endangered sparrows can be protected.
Today is World Sparrow Day. It is celebrated every year on 20 March. This day was started to be celebrated in the year 2010 to increase awareness towards sparrows. In the last few years, the number of sparrows has decreased significantly.

Satyagraha Foundation, Mother Tahira Charitable Trust, various governments and various social organizations are doing positive work in this direction.
World Sparrow Day is an initiative of Nature Forever Society of India as well as Ecosage Action Foundation of France. The society was started by famous environmentalist Mohammad Dilawar. He was included in the “Heroes of the Environment” by Time magazine in 2008. World Sparrow Day was celebrated for the first time on 20 March in the year 2010. After this, this day is celebrated every year on 20 March. On this day, people working for the conservation of sparrows are also honored with the Sparrow Award. Various surveys show the number of birds like Goriya (sparrow).
The number of sparrows is continuously decreasing. According to the study, its number has decreased by 60 percent. One of the objectives of celebrating World Sparrow Day is to encourage our youth and nature enthusiasts to love and care for sparrows. On this occasion, Dr. Ajaz Ahmad, Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Dr. Shahnawaz Ali and Dr. Amit Kumar Lohia jointly said that it is very important to spread awareness in the society to save the extinct sparrows. Along with this, there is a need to jointly intensify the worldwide campaign for the conservation of sparrows by the United Nations and many governments of the world, so that endangered birds like sparrows (Goriya) can be provided protection. This will be possible only when we all are aware of cleanliness and environmental protection by establishing harmony at the national and international level. Also, we all should work together in a positive way in this direction.
