on the 55th Independence Day of Bangladesh, A Grand programme was organized in the Auditorium of Satyagraha Research Foundation, Satyagraha Bhawan, in which representatives of various social organizations, intellectuals and students participated. On this occasion,

International Peace Ambassador cum Secretary General Satyagraha Research Foundation Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Advocate, Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Senior Journalist Cum Founder Mother Tahira Charitable Trust Dr. Amanul Haque, Dr. Shahnawaz Ali, Dr. Mehbobur Rahman, Dr. Amit Kumar Lohia jointly paid tribute to the founder of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Immortal Martyrs, freedom fighters and thousands of Soldiers of India who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of Bangladesh. The independence of Bangladesh was declared on 26 March 1971. India played an important role in the liberation struggle of Bangladesh. At that time, a situation of bloody Conflict prevailed in East Pakistan for 9 Months.

After 9 Months of bloody Conflict, General Niazi along with about 90 thousand Pakistani soldiers surrendered before the Indian Army. On this occasion, the speakers gave the message of world peace, non-violence, environmental protection and mutual love, following the ideals and values of Mahatma Gandhi, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, immortal martyrs and freedom fighters.

On this occasion, Dr. Ajaz Ahmad, Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Dr. Amanul Haque, Dr. Shahnawaz Ali again said that India’s role was important in the independence of Bangladesh. This can be understood from the fact that for this, the Government of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had joined hands with the Soviet Union by withdrawing from the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the foundation of which was laid by the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and has been considered very important in Indian foreign policy. This is counted among the important decisions of Indira Gandhi’s political career.
When East Pakistan was fighting for independence, the needs of Mukti Bahini like training, shelter and weapons were fulfilled with the help of India. India also provided shelter and food to the refugees coming in lakhs from East Pakistan. There was spontaneous support from all over India for an independent Bangladesh. Many states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura also passed resolutions in their assemblies in support of the independence of Bangladesh.
The foundation for the independence of Bangladesh was laid in the year 1952 itself, when the government of Pakistan declared Urdu to be the official language of the entire country, but the decisive struggle for the independence of the country took place for nine months in the year 1971, which started with the declaration of independence of Bangladesh on 26 March. The hero of this war of independence was Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was arrested by the Pakistan Army the same night. He was taken to Karachi three days after his arrest.

Bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was kept in the dungeon of Mianwali jail for about nine months. Meanwhile, there was a struggle on the streets of Dhaka. The repression of the Pakistani Army was breaking all records of human rights violations. Heinous crimes like rape of women were also coming to light. But the feeling of independence was so strong in East Pakistan that the Pakistani Army failed to crush it despite all the tactics.

During this time, India’s armed conflict with Pakistan formally started on 3 December with the attack on India by the Pakistani Army. The war that lasted for about 13 days ended on 16 December 1971, when Pakistan’s General Niazi along with about 90 thousand Pakistani soldiers surrendered before the Indian Army. This day is celebrated as Vijay Diwas in India.
