Jajira, Shariatpur, July 6: A five-year-old child, Junaid Rari, tragically drowned in a water-filled pit beside his home in Jajira Upazila of Shariatpur.

The incident occurred on Monday (July 6) morning in Sardar Kandi village under Palerchar Union. The deceased, Junaid Rari, was the son of Rana Rari of the same village.

According to family members and hospital sources, Junaid’s mother was busy cooking on Monday morning while he was playing near their house. At one point, he accidentally fell into a pit that had previously been dug and was filled with rainwater. When he could not be found for a long time, his family began searching for him.

Eventually, Junaid was spotted floating in the water. His mother screamed for help, prompting local residents to rush to the scene and rescue him. He was immediately taken to Jajira Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician examined him and declared him dead.

The heartbreaking incident has left the child’s family devastated with grief. A deep sense of sorrow has also spread throughout Sardar Kandi village in Palerchar Union.
