In Bhedarganj upazila of Shariatpur, a tragic incident unfolded when a woman reportedly died by suicide just a day after the death of her cousin-in-law. The back-to-back incidents have caused widespread concern in the area.

The latest incident occurred on Wednesday (25 February) morning in the Middle Mohishar village of the upazila. A day earlier, on Tuesday evening, Milton Mallik was found dead after reportedly hanging himself in a rented house in Mohammadpur.

According to local sources and police, Milton Mallik, a resident of Middle Mohishar, was allegedly involved in a secret relationship with Elina Akter, the wife of his cousin, Faisal Mallik, who lives in Malaysia. The matter reportedly became known about three months ago, leading to tension between the families. On Tuesday, after Iftar, Milton allegedly took his own life at a rented residence near his workplace. Initial assumptions suggest that complications arising from the personal relationship may have contributed to his decision.

After news of Milton’s death reached the village, Elina Akter reportedly died by suicide the following morning at her husband’s home in Middle Mohishar. Locals believe the tragic sequence of events was linked to the alleged relationship between the two.
