Decision to return to country not under sole control: Tarique Rahman

BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is seriously ill and in critical condition in the hospital, said the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman. He said that although she has a strong desire to be touched by her mother’s affection during such a crisis, the opportunity to take a single decision in implementing it is not open and under her sole control.

He said this in a verified Facebook post on social media today (November 29) regarding her mother’s illness and return to the country.

Tarique Rahman wrote on Facebook, Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia, is seriously ill and in critical condition in the hospital. Citizens from all walks of life, regardless of party affiliation, have continued to pray sincerely for her recovery. The Honorable Chief Advisor has expressed his commitment to provide all possible medical assistance along with his prayers for her recovery.

The medical team from home and abroad, as always, has continued to provide the highest level of professionalism and service with the utmost sincerity. Friends, several countries have also expressed their desire for all possible cooperation, including improved treatment.

On behalf of the Zia family, I would like to express my sincere thanks and deep gratitude to everyone for their sincere prayers and love for the universally respected Begum Khaleda Zia. At the same time, I would like to sincerely request everyone to continue praying for Begum Khaleda Zia’s speedy recovery.

Like any child, I have a strong desire to be touched by my mother’s affection in such a crisis. But like everyone else, my sole decision-making power is not unlimited and under my sole control in implementing it. The space to elaborate on this sensitive issue is also limited. Our family is optimistic that my long anxious wait for my return home will end as soon as this political reality reaches the expected level.
