Joint forces raid in Naria, 1 arrested along with guns, cartridges and cocktails

A single-barrel gun, seven rounds of cartridges, a large quantity of country-made weapons and 19 cocktails were recovered in a separate raid in Thakurkandi village of Rajnagar union in Naria, Shariatpur. Today, Thursday (February 5), a joint force comprising the district police, army and RAB conducted the raid in Rajnagar and Moktar’s Char unions of the upazila. During this, a youth named Kausar alias Rabbi Moral (21) was arrested.

 

According to police sources, on the instructions of the Shariatpur District Superintendent of Police, the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) and a smart team of the army conducted a raid in Thakurkandi village of Rajnagar union in collaboration with Naria police. Kausar alias Rabbi Moral, son of Nuruzzaman Moral, was arrested based on a secret information.

 

Later, according to the information given by Rabbi, 1 single-barrel gun, 7 fresh cartridges, 1 ramda, 1 large knife, 1 Chinese axe and 1 crease were recovered from under the wooden shed of the house of a person named Satish Mandal in that village.

 

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, Naria Police Station and RAB-8 (Madaripur Camp) Additional Police Superintendent Md. Tariq Rahman led a search in Poragachha (Alim Uddin Beparikandi) village of Char Union of Moktar. There, 19 fresh cocktails in two buckets were recovered from the garden of a certain Mahabub Pedar. The cocktails were wrapped in red duct tape.

 

Naria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Bahar Mia said that preparations are underway to file a case against the arrested accused Rabbi Morol under the Arms and Explosives Act. The recovered firearms and cocktails are currently in police custody.

 

The operation in Naria, which has been going on for several days, has brought relief to the people.

 

District Superintendent of Police Rawnak Jahan said that this eight-day operation against the terrorists will continue. Currently, additional police and joint forces have increased surveillance in those areas.
