International Peace Ambassador cum Secretary General Satyagraha Research Foundation Dr Ajaz Ahmad Advocate, Senior Journalist cum Founder Mother Tahira Charitable Trust Dr Amanul Haque, Dr Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Dr Amit Kumar Lohia, Dr Shahnawaz Ali jointly said that during the 1917 Champaran Satyagraha, Mahatma Gandhi, Along with the Country’s freedom Movement, had launched apublic Awareness Campaign with Kasturba Gandhi and the people of Champaran on the land of Bettiah West Champaran for clean environment, environmental protection and freedom from various social evils. Whenever there was an attempt to cut the forest, there were movements to save it. After the independence of the country, students, local people and environmentalists have had to come out on the streets to save the Kancha Ghazibowli forest in Hyderabad, starting from the Chipko movement in Uttarakhand in 1973. After a lot of protest, the matter reached the court. Now, for the time being, there is a ban on cutting this forest. But it is also important to discuss how right it is to cut the green forest in the name of development. Clean environment, environmental protection, prevention of climate change and protection of nature are directly related to the lives of humans and animals. Glaciers are melting rapidly due to indiscriminate cutting of trees, plants and forests all over the world including India. This year is being celebrated as the first glacier conservation year by Satyagraha Research Foundation, Mother Tahira Charitable Trust, United Nations and various governments. Institutions conducting research on clean environment, environmental protection, climate change and nature and people having knowledge of this subject believe that indiscriminate cutting of trees and forests will affect the eco-system and will pose a threat to human life.
