Married woman accused of gang-raping in Magura’s Mohammadpur, 2 arrested

Four people have been named in a case filed against the wife of an expatriate in Gopalpur village of Mohammadpur upazila of Magura. Police have arrested two of them.

 

The arrested are Md. Sijan Mahmud Sani (20) and Nafiz Ahmed Swadhin (22). The other two accused in the case are Rubel Sheikh (24) and Md. Sumon Sheikh (25). All are residents of Gopalpur village of Mohammadpur upazila, it is mentioned in the complaint.

 

According to the complaint, the victim is the wife of a Saudi expatriate. She lives in her husband’s house with two sons and a daughter and works as a laborer in a jute mill in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur district.

 

According to the complaint, on Monday (January 5) at around 11 pm, on her way home from work, she was taken to a secluded place and raped in stages, intimidating and threatening her.

 

Police said that a case has been registered based on the complaint. Two people have already been arrested and sent to court. The operation to arrest the other two accused is ongoing. However, the accused have claimed that the allegation is false and motivated. Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Ashrafuzzaman said that the case is under investigation. Two people have already been arrested.
